It was an unexpected safari at Bandipur National park. The idea came up after we reached there....!!!
It was 8th July , Sunday Morning Safari which we had booked the previous day.....The trip till then was photographically very good with lots of bird shots..The expectation during safari was not too high as it was monsoon and sighting was expected to be the best!!
Safari started with a peacock sighting and then 2 male bull Indian Gaur. Really huge ones and spotted the females a bit further apart.
Moving On....We sighted a group of elephants. There was a baby elephant as well but i could not get a clear shot of that. The moment they sensed the intruders, one of them was not happy and it clearly blocked the road for the remaining family to go to safe locations.
As we moved forward, the elephant did couple of mock charges. It charged on the tree making the sound.
It moved away only after we started to move away.......probably it ensured the safety of its own family!!!
I have seen elephants in the forest before, even single elephants which is wild, but his is the first time where a group of elephants in which one of them do a charge/mock charge.......That way this was very unique....
The safari was overall good, after the experience of the elephants, the surprise part in the forest trip was after the safari while we were returning back in the car.
We were lucky to spot a pack of wild dogs in rain.......There were many but only few shots as it was really raining.
(Not the sharpest of shots, but this has the pack visible!!)
And Spotted a mongoose as well
